Breakfast is served from 8am – 9:00am (9:30am at weekends and holidays)
Breakfast is served in the ‘Workhouse Refectory’ it’s said that it’s the most important meal of the day and we agree. We think we provide one of the best breakfasts in Wales included in the price of the room.
All day dining is available from 11am to 6pm
We provide an excellent day time menu which includes a range of traditional dishes such as battered cod, hand cut chips and mushy peas or lambs liver, onion gravy, bacon and mash. We serve local Welsh produce such as a platter of Welsh cheeses, Cardigan Bay crab, Elan Valley mutton. In addition we provide more international dishes but still using local produce such as wild mushroom risotto, sundried tomatoes and free range chicken or Spanish omeletes. You can dine either in the bar or restaurant.
Dinner begins at 6pm and final seating is at 8:30pm
In the evening The Workhouse Refectory becomes an intimate candle lit restaurant with an a-la-carte menu and good quality wine list. Once again we use local produce where we can add to the menu with specials on our blackboard. We love cooking and have a simple but great quality range of foods with plenty of choice of healthy eating be it meat, fish, poultry or vegetarian. See opposite for some sample menus.
Bar opens from 12:00am to 11:00pm (residents can vary these times)
Our bar area is a comfortable place to relax and unwind, read the local and daily newspapers and sample some excellent beers and wines. Our house wines are Chilean and Fair Trade labeled and the local draft beer is called ‘ Reverend James’, dark in colour with a great head and good bitter taste. You could also try some local whiskey, gin or vodka all brewed at the Pendyrn Brewery at Brecon. We can offer discounted tour tickets of the brewery, which is about 35 miles away.
