Brynafon Hotel’s convenient central location in Rhayader, next to the Elan Valley in Mid Wales, in the beautiful county of Powys is the perfect position for holiday makers, families and business professionals. Located next to the Red Kite feeding and rehabilitation centre Gigrin Farm (100 meters away), Brynafon is a great place to get a bite to eat, a tea or coffee or spend the night in our unusual historic hotel which is a former workhouse. Brynafon Hotel is near Builth Wells (13.6 miles away), and near Llandrindod Wells (9.8 miles away).

Brynafon Hotel is situated truly in the heart of Wales. It is located just off the A470 which links the Brecon Beacons National Park in the South (30 miles) with the Elan Valley and Cambrian Mountains in Mid Wales (3 miles) and Snowdonia National Park in the North (50 miles). There are train stations at Llandrindod Wells and Caersws (just over 20 miles). The nearest airport is Cardiff about 90 minutes travel time by car.

Brynafon Hotel is only half a mile from Rhayader town centre, close enough to walk, but far away enough to unaffected by the hustle and bustle of town life.

Brynafon Hotel is used by many guests because it is in Mid Wales so that people from the South and North of Wales can meet up in the middle. We find business’ and families use our location so that the travelling can be shared.

Holiday makers and many groups use our Mid Wales, Powys location as a great base to get to see some of the most unspoiled countryside in Wales. The former Radnorshire County now part of Powys is home to no less than 17 nature reserves.

Powys is the biggest county in Wales but with only 22 people per mile² (according to the 2001 census) it is a must for anyone wanting to truly get away from it all.

Being so close to the Royal Welsh Showground in Builth Wells, Brynafon Hotel has provided accommodation to many show competitors, exhibitors, visitors and guests. The Victorian Festival in Llandrindod Wells, Brynafon Hotel receives a number of olde worlde visitors investigating and experiencing re-living bygone years.

As a small hotel Brynafon offers some of the best accommodation in Rhayader, well situated accommodation in Mid Wales, and unusual historic accommodation in Powys.
