Call at Brynafon, once a workhouse, now a beautiful family run hotel. Dine on just great home-cooked Welsh food try their new special Welsh Taster Menu which includes mutton sourced from the Elan Valley, Beef from Llanidlioes, Abereron Crab and Caerphilly Cheese cakes. Welsh Taster Platters are starter portions of traditional and authentic Welsh recipes. For groups whilst enjoying your food listen to a local historian tell the history of the workhouse (by appointment). The hotel can also cater for overnight stays for small to medium sized groups, with additional accommodation sourced at other participating Hotels.
Visit the Hall at Abbey-Cwm-Hir, set within a setting of breathtaking beauty, history and romance. The Hall and its 12 acres overlook St Mary’s Church and the ruins of the 12th century Cisterian “Abbey of the Long Valley”. Victoria and Paul have lovingly restored and enhanced their Gothic mansion over a period of eight years and now delight in showing visitors the fruits of their labour. Visit the Gigrin Farm Kite Feeding Station, as featured on ITV’s Countrywise, just a few hundred meters from the Brynafon Hotel. Tour the magnificent Elan Valley, also featured on ITV’s Countrywise, with its abundance of wildlife, rivers lakes and dams, calling at the Visitors Centre to discover how the Victorians created the dams that supply Birmingham with their main water supply. The dams and reservoirs of the Elan Estate are situated within an area of outstanding scenic beauty. They provide a lasting amenity in their own right for visitors to enjoy.
